Project Warm - Louisville

I would like to...

Our Services

Project Warm serves people who live in Jefferson County, Kentucky; services are free to those who meet our income guidelines no matter if they rent or own their home.

Our Energy Management Workshops are for those who can do the work themselves, although everyone is welcome to attend.

Our Blitz! Volunteer Program serves seniors over age 60 and persons with disabilities.

Our First Line Weatherization program requires permission from the property owner.

Our "It's My Home!" is a new series of free hands-on classes made possible with a generous grant from UPS.

Energy Management Workshops

Learn how to make your home warmer and more comfortable this winter. Project Warm workshops teach how to hang clear interior window covers, give energy saving tips and more… plus get free supplies to winterize and "do-it-yourself" at home.

Free Weatherization Supplies include: Clear plastic, tape and tacks for windows, and foam rope and more to seal air holes around windows and in other drafty spots, etc.

Attendees leave with knowledge and supplies to take simple, effective energy-saving actions at home.

Attend a FREE Energy Management Workshop to learn what you can do to make your house or apartment more energy efficient and take home a weatherization kit. Call individual location to register.

 Blitz!

Project Warm’s annual Blitz! weatherization service project recruits and trains volunteer teams who install plastic on windows in the homes of Jefferson County residents who are 60 years and older or physically challenged. Every year since 1991, more than 300 households are helped to prepare for the winter by 600 volunteers from businesses, schools, religious and community organizations on two Saturdays in November. Project Warms offers this service and volunteer opportunity through February of each year.

This year's Blitz will be our 27th annual held on two Saturdays, November 4 and 11, 2017. It's a lot of work and a lot of fun! There are more opportunities to volunteer throughout the winter season helping people stay warmer. If you or someone you know is interested contact Project Warm at 502-636-9276 or email volunteer@projectwarm.org.

New volunteer information packet and registration forms  are now available!

  First Line Weatherization

Project Warm's staff and experienced trained volunteers provide basic air sealing repairs in its year-round "First Line" Weatherization program. Air sealing is often the most cost effective way to improve energy efficiency and comfort.

These repairs include:

  • Repairing windows and exterior doors
  • Weather stripping and adjusting exterior doors
  • Applying caulk around windows, baseboards, doorways and cracks
  • Repairing or replacing cracked or broken window glass
  • Filling in hidden air leaks in walls and floors

To apply, print out these First Line Instructions, First Line Application, and First Line Income Eligibility Requirements  . Fill out the form and mail it with other required documents to Project Warm, 1252 S. Shelby Street, Louisville, KY 40203. You can also fax them  to Project Warm (fax number 635-9259). For more information, call Project Warm at 502-636-9276 or send an email to info@projectwarm.org.

"It's My Home!"

An interactive, hands-on opportunity to work with air sealing and insulation materials. We'll be learning about the  'House as a System', a new spin on an old concept: that everything effects everything else. In your home, that means everything works together, heating/cooling systems, your behavior and your house's structural integrity. Click here for related information and links
